Limited Edition Prints of the Concord Point Lighthouse
MENDING FENCES By Christopher White
In this print, spring has arrived in Havre de Grace, Maryland. With the warm breeze and sunshine come the routine duties of a lighthouse keeper including the mending of fences weakened by a harsh Chesapeake Bay winter. Captain O’Neill and his helper repair the fence surrounding the Lighthouse, while Mrs. O’Neill steps out onto the porch of their residence. She may be calling them in for a noontime meal or is perhaps just relishing the warmth of the sun after a cold winter.
Christopher White of Port Deposit, Maryland, is an award-winning artist whose ability to capture historical detail has made his work extremely popular. His paintings “A Winter’s Eve on Concord Point” and “What So Proudly We Hail’d” were acclaimed for their striking imagery, lighting, and symbolism. The tradition continues with “Mending Fences: Concord Point Lighthouse, Spring 1890” a vibrant tableau of the everyday life of a lighthouse keeper on the Chesapeake Bay.
Using photos, maps, and land plats as references, the artist worked with historians and The Friends of Concord Point Lighthouse to assure that the print is an accurate representation of the lighthouse and its surroundings circa 1890. All proceeds from the print sales go to The Friends of Concord Point Lighthouse.
